The Experian Retail FootFall Index – UK National gives a true representation of the change in visitor numbers to retail outlets across the UK This enables monitoring and assessment of how events affect the retail landscape on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Experian FootFall indices are validated using Experian’s Mosaic UK consumer classification. Mosaic classifies every UK consumer into one of 61 lifestyle types aggregated into 11 lifestyle groups. Applying Mosaic to the FootFall Indices ensures they are demographic representative of the UK population, accurately reflecting the lifestyles and shopping habits of all UK consumers. The application of Mosaic confirmed that 80% of the UK population live in the catchment area of the UK measurement points.
For added value, Experian, acknowledged experts in the assessment of economic indicators, provides commentary to selected indices, putting Experian FootFall information into context with the social and economic issues at play over the period measured.
How is the index Compiled?
Both the Experian FootFall Index and the Regional Index are compiled automatically from actual data of people visiting over 200 retail centres and over 12,000 retail outlets across the UK ensuring the information is both objective and statistically robust.
